Scouts

Uniform Order for Scouts It really helps save time when one person orders uniforms for the entire scouting troop. Use this planner to offer this service to your parents. You can just view one list and then submit your order. I've used email and paper slips in the past, but this online planner was a lot easier and faster.

Brownie Try-Its Try Its are a structured way for Brownie awards. As a brownie leader other parents can assist with the Try-It Badges. Pick about 8 of the try its per year and allow for the other Brownie meetings to be pure fun. Here's a sample of how to set this up. All of the Try Its are listed. See some great ideas for Try It Badges here http://www.gswrc.org/Girls/brownielinks.htm

Snack Duty for Scout Meetings We've heard that girls and boys get mighty hungry at the scout meetings. If yours do as well, here is an easy way to sign up parents (and their children) to bring a snack for all. I would encourage the parents to cook with their children and bring homemade snacks. This will help earn achievement badges, give them added responsibility and be a fun project too.

Camping Trip Explore the great outdoors on a camping trip with your friends, extended family or scout troop. This sign-up sheet is chock full of items you'll need to make the trip fun and safe. Prepare a checklist for the camping trip and be well organized for your next trip. Consider the length of your stay, animal habitation (such as bears) and weather considerations when modifying this list to suit your needs. If you're looking for an easy and fast way to reserve your campground try out www.reserveamerica.com.

Cub Scout Bear Activities As a Bear Den Leader this format was helpful with parent involvement with the boys and generated some very creative ideas. It gave parents a way to easily participate and pick and choose their area of interest.

Cub Scout Pack Volunteers You will be so thankful to all of the parents who help lead the pack from den leader to derby organizer. See here to view all of the positions which help run the cub scout pack smoothly.

Daisy Girl Scouts Petals As a Girl Scout Leader use this planner for your Daisy Girl Scout parents to share what petals their girls would earn and offer them the chance to lead an activity for a petal. You'll notice that more parents actively participate with your troop using this sign up form. I hope you find it useful with your girls.

Field Trip Leader Volunteer Sign Up Parents in many Girl and Boy Scout troops have asked, "How can I help?". Those are welcome words to any scout leader's ears. Perhaps you would suggest a general idea of field trips, then let the parents plan a field trip from start to finish. You'll get some very creative field trips this way. Add to this planner and send it out to your parents so they can signup to organize one of the trips.

Girl Scout Cookie Booth Sales If you're setting up a table for your girls to sell cookies this year, here's a way to schedule their participation and parent volunteers. A booth at a local grocer like Safeway or Trader Joes can be a great success and really beat the door to door sales. It's best to have a volunteer at each table to supervise the girls and their customers. Parent volunteers can order the cookies, bring supplies and act as treasurer. Girls can make posters, track the sales and be the cashiers. For detailed assistance and FAQ on the cookie sales see the Girl Scout website http://www.girlscouts.org/program/gs_cookies/faqs.asp. The sign-up sheet here shows you how to set up the scout volunteers.

Halloween Party * Cookies-Brew-Bingo Halloween brings out the "spirits" in all of us! Students will have fun with cookie decorating, making their own tombstones, and corn candy bingo. Use this sign-up sheet to organize volunteers and donations from parents. If you don't already have bingo cards, try http://www.dltk-cards.com/bingo/index.htm. You could also have a Mummy Wrapping contest. Ask each child to bring in a roll of toilet paper. Split the children into teams of 2 or 3, and wrap one the team members. Fastest wrap wins!

Junior Badges Junior scouts earn about 7 badges per year with the help of a lot of parents. Here is a list of all of the badges your parent volunteers can help with. You can pick and choose among them as you seek volunteers for your Junior troop this year and choose a focus for the girls.
